sleeping

Sleep is an important part of every child’s day at nursery. At Blue Windmill, we make sure rest times are calm, comfortable and unhurried — a time to recharge and feel secure in familiar surroundings.

Babies

Our youngest children have a separate, peaceful sleep room, carefully monitored by practitioners throughout the day. Each baby has their own bedding, and we follow individual sleep routines wherever possible. The room is softly lit and kept at a comfortable temperature, with staff carrying out regular safety checks and visual monitoring at all times.

Toddlers and preschoolers

For older children, we provide a quiet, restful area within their main room. This space is created for relaxation — with gentle lighting and calm music. Some may sleep; others may simply rest and unwind before returning to play.

Safety and supervision

Sleep times are carefully managed and recorded. Practitioners check on every sleeping child at regular intervals and document these checks, following our health and safety policy. Daily risk assessments are carried out to ensure cots, bedding and equipment are clean, safe and ready for use.

We know that each child’s sleep pattern is different, and our team works closely with parents to support routines from home. Whether it’s a short nap, a quiet moment or a longer rest, our aim is always the same — peaceful, safe sleep in a calm and caring environment.
